SPOTLIGHT ON EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE

spotlight on educational excellence

This is where we get to shine the spotlight on a school or an individual who is doing AMAZING things in education. We look for people who are disrupting the norm, shaking things up and making education even more outstanding.

This month we cannot go past the incredible Eddie Woo who has just been named “Local Hero” in the Australian of the Year Awards!

Photo of Eddie Woo

Eddie Woo has been teaching maths for more than 10 years and is the head maths teacher at Cherrybrook Technology High School. Mr. Woo’s passion for maths and creating opportunities for his students to really engage with his lessons in meaningful ways has caught the attention of the education community in Australia and his “WooTube” videos have generated a following of more than 100,000 people worldwide.

While Mr. Woo has become a national and international sensation, it’s the students in his class who really benefit from his energetic and out of the box teaching style. Mr. Woo’s students credit him with enabling them to engage with and understand complex maths problems and giving their learning a real world context.

At Disruptive Education & Training we believe that outstanding educators deserve to be celebrated for the wonderful contribution that they make to the lives of so many. Do you know an individual or a school that is disrupting the norm and achieving outstanding results?

Aside from having a wonderfully relaxing summer break we’ve also had the privilege to:

  • Support school leaders to create their vision, mission, values and priorities both for the delivery of their school business plan and even more importantly to create a clear path for their school to go from being a good school to being an outstanding school over the next 3 years.
  • Preparing to run our first in school coach training where we will be training teachers to develop coaching skills which they will use to develop other team members as well as their students.
